Suggested weekend reading:
The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg is a great book to digest during this long weekend. On Paperclip, work habits are a favorite topic because we all understand the importance of creating routines that enable us to perform at our best and allow us to leave our workdays fulfilled and with a feeling of accomplishment. This is an interesting read to understand scientifically just how ingrained habits are in our minds and how they can truly impact our daily movements. It's full of fascinating stories, backed with information to explain why creating healthy and helpful habits are critical to live our best lives.
If work has us feeling overwhelmed / "crazy busy" / insanely overworked - then taking a strong look at our own productivity habits is a good start toward helping ourselves out of that place of anxiety of 'never enough' and move toward a mindset of 'making progress.'
September is a timely month to look at what we want to achieve for the remainder of 2016 and determine any shifts or adjustments that we might need in order to make what we want happen. This is especially helpful to do if the annual performance review is coming up. Thinking ahead, figuring out what needs to change in our work routines, and initiating that effort is the beginning of proving to ourselves that we are on top of our game.
So, let's enjoy this loooong weekend by reading something interesting, spending quality time with people who are special to us, traveling, resting, laughing, relaxing, moving, praying and discovering new ideas. Have fun!
