Looking for some #MondayMotivation?
How about some truths that will speak directly to our slacker heart?
Ever since former Navy Seal Jocko Willink spoke some truth about discipline, leadership, and doubt on the The Tim Ferris Show podcast (haven’t heard it? - listen here), we’ve been hooked on hearing his perspective on his own podcast, Jocko Podcast.
When we need a good kick in the productivity pants - his episodes cover important topics such as mental toughness, ownership, mind control and yes, a LOT about discipline. His powerful voice is compelling to listen to and he provides simple truths that just sink in and make you want to do better. His military mindset and experience is definitely in the forefront of his discussions. His advice on discipline and leadership is worth the listen.
Next week includes Thanksgiving (YAY!) and until January 3rd - we’re going to strive to get stuff done at work despite our holiday mindset. So really, this is the last “normal” non-holiday tinted week. Make the most of it and take the Jocko truths to heart. Build that skill of having discipline to stay productive through the distractions of the upcoming office Secret Santa game, the various holiday lunches with vendors and clients, and being short staffed while e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e else seems to have time off. #thatlastoneisbrutal
Let's make ourselves proud of the quality of our work over the next few weeks. When we produce at a stellar level, we feel better about ourselves and the work that we do. People should notice, but even if they don’t (due to their own holiday stresses) - making ourselves proud of our own work is a gift only we can give ourselves and it is priceless. AND it makes us better for the next project/report/deadline. And that's no bull.
